शेली

Shellee (born Shailender Singh Sodhi, 1970) is a lyricist from Chandigarh known for bringing an earthy Punjabi idiom into mainstream Hindi film music. The son of poet and writer Himmat Singh Sodhi, he studied theatre at Panjab University before moving to Mumbai in 1995, where he began his film career assisting Gulzar. A schoolteacher's fondness for the English Romantic poet P. B. Shelley gave him his pen name. His breakthrough came when Anurag Kashyap brought him aboard Dev.D (2009), beginning a long association with composer Amit Trivedi that produced some of the era's most distinctive soundtracks, including Udta Punjab (2016) and Manmarziyaan (2018), for which he wrote fan favourites like 'Daryaa'. Later credits include Hum Do Hamare Do (2021), Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat (2022) and The Buckingham Murders (2024). For the Punjabi film Ghich Pich (2025) he wrote the soundtrack with composer Rohit Sharma and also lent his voice to 'Munda Patteya Gaya'.
