Shilpa Rao (born Apeksha Rao, 11 April 1984) is an Indian playback singer known primarily for her work in Hindi cinema, alongside Telugu and Tamil films. Born in Jamshedpur, Bihar (present-day Jharkhand), to a Telugu family originally from Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh, she was introduced to music by her father, S. Venkat Rao, and began classical training under Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan after meeting singer Hariharan at age 13. She later adopted the stage name Shilpa, saying the name related to "art," in place of her birth name Apeksha.

After moving to Mumbai and completing a postgraduate degree in Applied Statistics from St. Xavier's College, she spent about three years as a jingle singer before making her Bollywood playback debut in 2007 with the film Anwar. She earned her first Filmfare nomination for "Khuda Jaane" from Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008), and went on to sing widely admired songs such as "Ishq Shava" (Jab Tak Hai Jaan, 2012), "Manmarziyaan" (Lootera, 2013), "Malang" (Dhoom 3, 2013), "Ghungroo" (War, 2019), "Besharam Rang" (Pathaan, 2023), and "Chaleya" (Jawan, 2023).

Rao has won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer twice — for "Ghungroo" (2020) and "Besharam Rang" (2024) — and received the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer at the 71st National Film Awards for "Chaleya." She has recorded more than 140 Hindi film songs over her career, frequently collaborating with composers A. R. Rahman and Pritam, and appeared on Coke Studio Pakistan (Season 9, 2016).
