Placing the ancient Dvadashakshara mantra — 'Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya', the twelve-syllable salutation to Vishnu first recorded in the Vishnu Purana — at the centre of an animated film soundtrack, Sam C.S. created one of the most distinctive tracks on the Mahavatar Narsimha album (Ishtar Music, 2025). Sung by the Karnataka-based singer Sanjith Hegde with his characteristic warm lower-register tenor, over lyrics newly arranged for film by Saurabh and Twinkle Mittal, the track runs three minutes thirty-six seconds and serves the film's pivotal sequences where Prahlad's unwavering devotion to Vishnu is dramatised against Hiranyakashipu's tyranny.

Sanjith Hegde's voice — warm, grounded, with a South Indian classical lilt that stops just short of Carnatic ornament — is the ideal vehicle for a mantra that needs simultaneously to convey antiquity and immediacy. Sam C.S. surrounds him with a string arrangement that breathes slowly, like tidal waves seen from great height, with occasional flute phrases suggesting the wind through temple doors. The tabla (an unusual choice in a predominantly orchestral album) grounds the track in the Hindustani-devotional tradition rather than keeping it purely cinematic.

Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya is among the most venerated mantras in all of Vedic tradition — 12 syllables that encapsulate the entirety of Vaishnava theology. The Vishnu Purana prescribes it as the ultimate salutation. Saurabh and Twinkle Mittal's arrangement for the 2025 film adds contextualising Hindi lines around the core mantra without altering its sacred syllabic count, threading the ancient text into a narrative about Prahlad's devotion.

In the film's narrative, this mantra is the weapon Prahlad carries against his demon-king father — not a sword but a name, chanted until the universe has no choice but to respond. Director Ashwin Kumar used the mantra as a structural motif, returning to it at key dramatic moments. The lyrical version featuring Sanjith Hegde was designed to accompany scenes of Prahlad's quiet, unshakeable faith.

The track gave Sanjith Hegde his widest Hindi-film exposure to date, introducing his voice to audiences beyond the Kannada and Telugu film circuits where he is primarily known. The mantra itself gained new listeners among younger audiences who discovered it through the film.
