Mahavatar Narsimha is a landmark 2025 Indian animated mythological action film directed by Ashwin Kumar in his feature debut, produced by Kleem Productions and presented by Hombale Films — the banner behind the Kannada blockbuster KGF. The film chronicles two consecutive Dashavatara stories: first, Varaha's descent to rescue the goddess Bhudevi (Earth) from the ocean floor after the demon Hiranyaksha imprisons her; then the longer and more emotional narrative of Hiranyakashipu — Hiranyaksha's brother, who swears revenge on Vishnu after his brother's death, obtains an elaborate boon from Brahma that makes him seemingly invincible, and proceeds to oppress the universe. His own son, Prahlad, is an unshakeable Vishnu devotee; Hiranyakashipu's attempts to break this faith and kill Prahlad culminate in Vishnu incarnating as Narasimha — half-man, half-lion — who emerges from a pillar to slay Hiranyakashipu in a liminal space (neither inside nor outside, neither day nor night, neither on the ground nor in the air) that satisfies every condition of the tyrant's boon. The animation process took four and a half years, with director Kumar pursuing photorealism as an aesthetic goal throughout. The film is the first instalment of a planned seven-film 'Mahavatar Cinematic Universe' covering all ten Dashavatara over twelve years (2025–2037).

The seven-track Hindi soundtrack, composed entirely by Sam C.S. and released by Ishtar Music on 4 July 2025, is the most ambitious Indian animated film score in history — recorded in part with the Macedonian Symphonic Orchestra in Europe under conductor Oleg Kondratenko, and employing Digi2 spectrum technology for hybrid orchestral-electronic textures. Sam CS spent six months on the score — his longest single-project commitment — producing a diverse album that encompasses battle themes (Roar of Narsimha, Asura Theme), mantra-settings (Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya), choral narratives (Hari Ki Gatha), maternal devotion (Jag Mein Tera Naam Ho), and both orchestral and aarti versions of the devotional centrepiece Namaste Narsimha. Critical response was mixed: Times of India found the songs 'fail to leave a lasting impact,' while Zee News praised the music as 'beautifully composed and well-timed.'

Mahavatar Narsimha is the most historically significant Indian animated film since Little Krishna (2009) and the first to reach ₹300+ crore worldwide — a financial threshold that fundamentally changes the investment calculus for Indian animation. Produced by Hombale Films (KGF), developed over four and a half years with photorealistic animation, the film demonstrates that Indian mythological animation can compete with Hollywood tentpoles in Indian markets. Sam C.S.'s seven-track score — partly recorded with the Macedonian Symphonic Orchestra in Europe using Digi2 spectrum technology — is the most technically ambitious music production for an Indian animated film, introducing orchestral scale that no predecessor had attempted.

With ₹300–325 crore worldwide, including ₹32.82 crore in the Hindi version's first week, Mahavatar Narsimha became India's highest-grossing animated film, surpassing all previous records and fundamentally reshaping expectations for the genre. The film's commercial success greenlit the planned seven-film 'Mahavatar Cinematic Universe' covering all ten Dashavatara across twelve years (2025–2037), making it a watershed moment for Indian mythological animation. Sam C.S.'s music, despite mixed critical response, introduced orchestral scale to Indian animated scoring that no predecessor had attempted.
