वरुणप्रिया (अर्थ: जल-देव वरुण की प्रिया) कर्नाटक शास्त्रीय संगीत के 72 मेलकर्ता चक्र का 24वाँ मेलकर्ता राग है। यह वेद चक्र (चतुर्थ समूह, मेलकर्ता 19–24) का अंतिम राग है। वेंकटमखिन (लगभग 1620 ईस्वी) द्वारा संहिताबद्ध इस राग में चतुश्श्रुति ऋषभ (R₂ ≈ शुद्ध रे), साधारण गंधार (G₂ ≈ कोमल ग), शुद्ध मध्यम, पंचम, षट्श्रुति धैवत (D₃) और काकली निषाद (N₃ = शुद्ध नि) हैं। षट्श्रुति धैवत (D₃) — जो कोमल निषाद की श्रुति-स्थिति में होता है — हिंदुस्तानी संगीत में नहीं पाया जाता, इसलिए इस राग का कोई ठाट समतुल्य नहीं बनता। यह सैद्धांतिक राग है।

Varunapriya (वरुणप्रिया, 'beloved of Varuna' — the Vedic deity of water, sky, and cosmic order) is the 24th melakarta in the 72-melakarta system, the last mela of the Veda chakra (4th group, melakartas 19–24). Codified by Venkatamakhin (c. 1620 CE), all Veda-chakra melas share R₂ (Chatussruti Rishabha ≈ shuddha Re) and G₂ (Sadharana Gandhara ≈ komal Ga). Varunapriya's distinguishing feature is its upper tetrachord: D₃ (Shatsruti Dhaivata — a raised Dha at approximately the same pitch as komal Ni in Hindustani) and N₃ (Kakali Nishada = shuddha Ni). The Shatsruti Dhaivata has no counterpart in the Hindustani swara system (which has only shuddha Dha and komal Dha), making a thaat mapping impossible. The raag appears in lakshana-geet tradition and theoretical texts but sees virtually no concert performance.
