Raag Yagapriya is a complete scale with all 7 notes in both ascent and descent raga in the Carnatic classical music tradition. It is derived from the Yagapriya melakarta (#31). With its Sampurna-Sampurna jati structure, this raag creates a distinctive tonal landscape. The predominant rasa is Devotion (भक्ति), making it suitable for compositions that evoke devotional, spiritual emotions. It is traditionally performed during morning hours, and its melodic contour offers rich possibilities for alapana, kalpanaswaram, and creative improvisation.

Yagapriya (यागप्रिया, 'beloved of the yajna/sacrifice', suggesting ceremonial sanctity) is the 31st melakarta in the 72-melakarta system, the first mela of the Rutu chakra (6th group, melakartas 31–36). Codified by Venkatamakhin (c. 1620 CE), Yagapriya is notable for using R₃ (Shatsruti Rishabha — at the pitch of Hindustani komal Ga) alongside G₃ (Antara Gandhara = shuddha Ga pitch), meaning its lower tetrachord traverses S–R₃–G₃ = C–D#–E — three consecutive chromatic positions with only one tone separating them. Its upper tetrachord uses D₁ (Shuddha Dhaivata ≈ komal Dha) and N₁ (Shuddha Nishada — the lowest Ni, at roughly the same pitch as komal Ni). This unusual combination of a dense lower tetrachord and a characteristically low upper tetrachord has no Hindustani thaat equivalent. The raag exists primarily in theoretical tradition.
