Raag Anandavalli is a complete scale with all 7 notes in both ascent and descent raga in the Carnatic classical music tradition.. With its Sampurna-Sampurna jati structure, this raag creates a distinctive tonal landscape. The predominant rasa is Peace/Tranquility (शांत), making it suitable for compositions that evoke peaceful, meditative emotions. It is traditionally performed during evening hours, and its melodic contour offers rich possibilities for alapana, kalpanaswaram, and creative improvisation.

Anandavalli is a Carnatic janya rāga whose name means 'vine or creeper of bliss' (ānanda = bliss, valli = creeping vine, tendril; also a feminine name meaning 'girl'). In South Indian religious tradition, Valli is also the name of Murugan's consort from the tribal hunter community, symbolising divine love that transcends caste. Anandavalli is closely associated with the rāga Neelambari (29th melakarta in the 72-melakarta system), and Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma (1813–1847), the scholar-king of Travancore and one of the great Carnatic composers, wrote the celebrated lullaby 'Omana Thinkal' — traditionally associated with Neelambari or ragas from its family — for which Anandavalli provides the melodic basis in some renditions. Neelambari's note set (S R1 G2 M1 P D1 N3) does not map cleanly to any single Hindustani thaat, as it combines features of both Bhairavi and Asavari families, hence no exact thaat equivalent is assigned.
