अजय गोगावले

Ajay Gogavale is a composer and playback singer, one half of the celebrated duo Ajay-Atul with his elder brother Atul. Born in Pune in 1976, he grew up across small towns of western Maharashtra — Rajgurunagar, Junnar, Shirur, Manchar — as their father, a revenue officer, moved on postings. Largely self-taught, the brothers rose through Marathi cinema, winning the National Film Award for Best Music Direction for Jogwa (2008) and creating landmark scores for Natarang and Sairat, whose song 'Zingaat' became a cultural phenomenon. Their Hindi breakthrough came with Agneepath (2012), followed by Singham, Bol Bachchan, PK, Dhadak, Zero ('Mere Naam Tu'), Super 30, Panipat and Tanhaji. Within the duo, Ajay is the singing voice — his full-throated renditions of 'Zingaat' and the Dhadak title track are among the most recognisable vocals of recent Hindi and Marathi cinema. He co-composed and sang 'Baby Bring It On' for Madgaon Express (2024), reworking the duo's own 2016 Marathi hit, and remains an in-demand playback voice for other composers too, as on 'Maaf Kar' from Pintu Ki Pappi (2025). Ajay-Atul are known for marrying symphonic Western orchestration with rooted Maharashtrian folk idioms.
