अजय जयंती

Ajay Jayanthi is a violinist, composer and music producer from Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh, who has become one of the busy behind-the-scenes voices of Hindi film and streaming music in the 2020s. Born into a family of Carnatic classical musicians, he took up the violin relatively late, in his teens, receiving his early training from his uncle M. Srikanth and advanced tutelage from his aunt, the Padma Shri-honoured violinist A. Kanyakumari. That grounding in Carnatic tradition, combined with an ear for contemporary production, shaped his signature blend of classical strings and modern film scoring.

Based in Mumbai, Jayanthi first built a reputation as a session violinist and arranger, contributing to scores and soundtracks including Mirzapur, Saand Ki Aankh, Yeh Ballet, Rocket Boys, Shabaash Mithu, Good Luck Jerry, Monica O My Darling, Thar and Jigra. He then stepped forward as a credited songwriter-composer: for the Netflix prison drama Black Warrant (2025) he composed songs such as "Pagg Vich Raakhi Da" and "Naseeba", and for Vir Das's detective comedy Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos he created "Banda Tere Liye" with singer Ash King, on which he also lends his own voice. Alongside studio work, he performs live across Indian cities, presenting the violin as a lead voice in contemporary film music.
