Ajay-Atul is the composing duo of brothers Ajay and Atul Gogavale, raised in and around Pune, Maharashtra, and today one of Indian cinema's most successful music-director partnerships. They first drew attention with Vishwa Vinayak, a devotional album that set Ganpati mantras to sweeping symphonic arrangements — an early preview of the grand orchestral sound that became their signature. After establishing themselves in Marathi cinema, they won the National Film Award for Best Music Direction for Jogwa (2009), and their scores for Natarang (2010) and Sairat (2016) became cultural landmarks: Sairat's soundtrack, recorded at a Hollywood scoring stage with a full symphony orchestra, powered the first Marathi film to cross the hundred-crore mark, and its dance anthem 'Zingaat' swept the entire country. In Hindi cinema they have scored Singham (2011), Agneepath (2012) — home to 'Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin' and 'Deva Shree Ganesha' — Bol Bachchan (2012), Dhadak (2018), for which they recreated 'Zingaat' in Hindi, Zero (2018, 'Mere Naam Tu') and Super 30 (2019). Rooted in Maharashtrian folk idioms yet unabashedly cinematic in scale, the brothers frequently pen their own lyrics, particularly in Marathi, and Ajay's full-throated voice fronts many of their biggest hits. With multiple Filmfare and Mirchi Music honours, they remain among the most in-demand composers working across Marathi and Hindi film music.
