With its Sampurna-Sampurna jati structure, this raag creates a distinctive tonal landscape. ऐतिहासिक महत्व Historical Significance

Anjanaadri (also spelled Anjanadri) is a Carnatic janya raga named after the sacred hill Anjanadri near Hampi in Karnataka — the mountain traditionally identified as the birthplace of Hanuman, son of Anjana. 'Anjana' refers both to the mother of Hanuman and to a dark-blue or black color (the color of the kohl used in eye decoration), while 'Adri' means mountain. Thus Anjanaadri literally means 'the mountain of Anjana.' This geographic-devotional naming links the raga to the Vaishnava and Veerashaiva traditions of Karnataka. The Tungabhadra river flows near this hill at Anegundi (Kishkindha of the Ramayana), giving the raga name a connection to both place and myth. Devotional Carnatic ragas bearing geographic names often carry the moods of pilgrimage music and sacred geography. The raga's parent melakarta within Venkatamakhin's 72-melakarta scheme is not documented in standard sources; no Hindustani thaat equivalent can be assigned.

Anjanaadri is a devotional Carnatic raga named after the sacred Hanuman birthplace hill that has not been documented in Hindi film music. Ramabhakti and Hanuman-devotional themes in Hindi cinema have used ragas like Bhairavi, Kafi, or folk-based melodies — not this obscure Carnatic janya. In South Indian film tradition, Hanuman-themed compositions are usually set in more popular ragas like Hamsadhwani or Bilahari. Anjanaadri remains within specialist Carnatic concert and temple performance traditions.
