Asli Action Chaalu (असली एक्शन चालू, Theme Song) is the rap-driven anthem of An Action Hero (2022), Anirudh Iyer's directorial debut starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Jaideep Ahlawat. Composed, produced and arranged by Parag Chhabra, the track brought in Mumbai-based Gully Gang-affiliated rappers D'Evil and Shah Rule, who wrote and performed their own verses — D'Evil delivering the Hindi bars and Shah Rule the English ones — a rare instance of a mainstream Bollywood studio handing full lyric-writing and vocal control to independent hip-hop artists for a film's theme song. Released by T-Series on 29 November 2022 ahead of the film's 2 December theatrical release, the song leans into the film's genre-aware, self-consciously 'action hero' framing — Ayushmann Khurrana plays a preening action star, and the theme song mirrors that swagger with braggadocio bars rather than a conventional film-song structure. Both rappers spoke publicly about being brought on for the project, calling it a first for them to headline a mainstream Hindi film's theme song.

Parag Chhabra's production keeps the beat lean and percussive, built to let the two rappers' cadences carry the track rather than a conventional melodic hook — a deliberate departure from the orchestral or synth-pop theme songs typical of Bollywood action films of the period. D'Evil's Hindi verses and Shah Rule's English verses are structured as a call-and-response, giving the song a two-voice tag-team energy that mirrors the film's own two-hander structure between its action star and his pursuer.

D'Evil and Shah Rule wrote their own verses, giving the lyrics an authentic hip-hop bravado rather than a studio-written approximation of rap — the Hindi bars lean on imagery of a moment 'arriving at the doorstep' and facing truth head-on, while the English verses carry the same braggadocio in a more direct, punch-line-driven register. The dual-language structure itself becomes part of the theme: two distinct voices, two languages, one shared declaration that the real action has begun.

An Action Hero follows Maanav Kaushik (Ayushmann Khurrana), a self-obsessed Bollywood action star whose on-screen bravado becomes literal when he accidentally kills the brother of ruthless politician Bhoora Solanki (Jaideep Ahlawat) and has to flee to London with Bhoora in relentless pursuit. As the film's theme song, Asli Action Chaalu functions as a wink at the audience — a genre-savvy anthem that announces the arrival of 'real' action just as the plot's stakes turn serious, matching the film's satirical undercurrent about the gap between manufactured movie-star heroism and actual danger. Directed by Anirudh Iyer and produced by T-Series and Colour Yellow Productions, the film released theatrically on 2 December 2022.

In press interviews around the release, D'Evil and Shah Rule described Asli Action Chaalu as a milestone moment for them — their first time headlining a mainstream Bollywood theme song with full creative control over their own verses, a credit arrangement still uncommon for independent hip-hop artists working with major studios. The song became the more widely circulated and talked-about of An Action Hero's two Parag Chhabra vocal tracks (the other being Ghere), helped by its placement as the film's title-establishing theme and by the rappers' existing fanbase from the Gully Gang / Mumbai hip-hop scene.
