सुचरित्र कर्नाटक की 72-मेलकर्ता पद्धति का 67वाँ मेलकर्ता है, जो 12वें और अन्तिम चक्र 'आदित्य' (मेलकर्ता 67–72) का प्रथम राग है। यह प्रति मध्यम खण्ड (मेलकर्ता 37–72) के अन्तर्गत आता है। वेंकटमखी ने 1660 ई. में इसका वर्णन किया। आदित्य चक्र के सभी राग षट्श्रुति रिषभ (R3) साझा करते हैं। सुचरित्र में R3 और N1 (शुद्ध निषाद / अतिकोमल नि) — दोनों हिन्दुस्तानी स्वर-संरचना से बाहर — एक साथ प्रयुक्त होते हैं। 'सुचरित्र' का अर्थ 'सद्गुणी' है। डॉ. बालमुरलीकृष्ण ने इसमें कृति रची है।

Sucharitra is the 67th melakarta in the Carnatic 72-melakarta system, the first raag of the 12th and final chakra, Aditya (melakartas 67–72). It belongs to the prati madhyama half (melakartas 37–72). Venkatamakhi's Caturdandi Prakasika (1660 CE) described this scale; the Aditya chakra contains the six final melakartas of the system, all sharing shatshruti rishabha (R3). As the opening raag of the final chakra, Sucharitra is seen as beginning the last stage of the theoretical edifice. Its name means 'of good character' or 'virtuous'. The scale combines R3 and N1 — neither found in Hindustani — giving it an extreme cross-register tonal tension. Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna composed a kriti in Sucharitra.
