माईस्वार 'दिल जलता है तो जलने दे' की रिकॉर्डिंग से जुड़े दो क़िस्से दर्ज करता है। पहला, गणेश अनंतरामन की 'बॉलीवुड मेलोडीज़' के हवाले से — रिलीज़ से पहले फ़िल्म के वितरकों को गीत पसंद नहीं आया, उन्हें लगा मुकेश की आवाज़ मोतीलाल पर नहीं जँचती; निर्माता मज़हर ख़ान ने मुकेश के अनुनय पर ही इसे रखने की बात मानी, इस शर्त पर कि पहले शो के बाद न चला तो हटा दिया जाएगा। दूसरा, अशोक दा रानडे की 'हिंदी फ़िल्म सॉन्ग' के हवाले से — रिकॉर्डिंग से पहले मुकेश ग़ायब हो गए थे और स्टूडियो लाए जाने पर अनिल बिस्वास ने उन्हें थप्पड़ मारकर कहा कि उसी चोट को रिकॉर्डिंग में उतारो।

MySwar records two anecdotes about the recording of 'Dil Jalta Hai To Jalne De'. The first, cited to Ganesh Anantharaman's Bollywood Melodies, is that the film's distributors reacted badly to the song before release, feeling Mukesh's voice did not suit Motilal, and that producer Mazhar Khan agreed to keep it only after Mukesh pleaded with him — on the condition it would be cut after the first show if it failed. The second, cited to Ashok Da Ranade's Hindi Film Song: Music Beyond Boundaries, is that Mukesh went missing before the recording and, once fetched to the studio, was slapped by Anil Biswas and told to carry the sting of it into the take.
