Neha Kakkar is one of the defining playback voices of 2010s and 2020s Bollywood — a singer whose bright, elastic voice powered a decade of party anthems and chart-topping remakes. Born in Rishikesh and raised in Delhi, she began singing at religious gatherings as a small child alongside her elder siblings Sonu and Tony Kakkar, both of whom also became successful musicians. Her first brush with fame was a bruising one: she was eliminated early from Indian Idol season 2 (2005-06) — the same show on which she would later return as a celebrity judge for multiple seasons.

Her breakthrough came with the dance track "Second Hand Jawaani" from Cocktail (2012), followed by "Sunny Sunny" (Yaariyan, 2014) and the wedding staple "London Thumakda" (Queen, 2014). From 2017 she became Bollywood's go-to voice for reimagined classics, delivering blockbusters like "Dilbar" (Satyameva Jayate, 2018) and "Aankh Marey" (Simmba, 2018), which became the first Indian song to reach the top three of Billboard's YouTube songs chart, along with hits such as "O Saki Saki" and "Garmi". In 2021 she became the first Indian singer to receive a YouTube Diamond Award, and she has featured repeatedly in the Forbes India Celebrity 100. Married to Punjabi singer Rohanpreet Singh since 2020, she remains prolific into the mid-2020s with film songs such as "The Bhootnii Swag" and "Nachdi" (2025).
