Tony Kakkar is an Indian singer, composer, and lyricist, born on 9 April 1984 in Rishikesh, and the elder brother of singers Sonu Kakkar and Neha Kakkar. He entered the film industry writing lyrics under composer Sandeep Chowta, and made his Bollywood debut as a music director with Mr. Bhatti on Chutti (2012), for which he composed "Good Boys Bad Boys." His composition "Sawan Aaya Hai" from Creature 3D (2014), sung by Arijit Singh, became one of the most-loved monsoon songs of its decade and established him as a mainstream film composer.
Kakkar then pivoted decisively toward independent pop, co-founding the label Desi Music Factory with Anshul Garg and shifting his focus to singing from the mid-2010s. Writing, composing, and singing his own tracks — often alongside his sisters — he delivered a string of massively streamed singles including "Dheeme Dheeme" (2019), "Kurta Pajama" (2020), and "Shona Shona" (2020), becoming one of the defining voices of India's catchy, meme-friendly pop-single era; his YouTube channel counts millions of subscribers.
