Narottam Vyas, often credited as "Pandit Narottam Vyas," was a lyricist, dialogue writer, director and producer active in Hindi cinema from the late 1930s through the 1960s. His early work as a lyricist includes songs for Kangan (1939, also released as The Bangle) and Durga (1939).
Through the 1940s he continued writing lyrics and dialogue for films including Mamaji (1942), which he also directed, Shri Ramanuja (1943), Devdasi (1945) and Meghdoot (1945), contributing songs performed by artists such as Leela Chitnis, Parul Ghosh and Vishnupant Pagnis.
Later in his career he moved toward writing and production, most notably sharing a story-writing credit (with Valmiki and Pandit Madhur) on the hit mythological film Sampoorna Ramayana (1961), directed by Babubhai Mistry, a landmark title in Hindi devotional cinema. Detailed personal biographical records — birth and death dates included — do not appear to survive in accessible public sources.
