Kaushal Kishore is a Hindi film lyricist from Motihari, Bihar, whose plain-spoken, emotionally direct writing has made him one of the busiest songwriters of the 2020s. The son of a poet, he moved to Mumbai in 2010 and spent nearly a decade working on the industry's margins before the lockdown anthem 'Muskurayega India' (2020), composed by Vishal Mishra, brought him nationwide attention. That song cemented a close creative partnership with Mishra which has since produced the hugely popular non-film ballads 'Aaj Bhi' and 'Aaj Bhi 2', as well as film songs such as 'Keemti' (Mission Raniganj, 2023) and 'Zindagi Tere Naam' (Yodha, 2024). In 2025 he wrote the soundtrack of the courtroom drama Haq, including 'Dil Tod Gaya Tu', 'Haq Hai Mera' and 'Qubool'. Rooted in his home state, he also releases devotional and Chhath festival songs every year, among them 'Chhathi Maiya Bulaye' with Vishal Mishra.
