Part of the Haq soundtrack (Times Music / Junglee Music, 2025), 'Dil Tod Gaya Tu' is Vishal Mishra composing and performing his own melody — a four-minute-one-second heartbreak ballad that maps the paradox of a lost love who still dominates every thought. A duet version featuring Akash Ojha and Sneha Shankar was also released, creating a gender-reversed mirror of the same pain. Kaushal Kishore's lyric uses simple grammatical contradiction — you broke my heart but haven't left it — to devastating effect. The guitar-forward arrangement is intimate throughout; no orchestral climax interrupts the sustained vulnerability.

Vishal Mishra, as both composer and singer, brings unusual coherence — the voice and music breathe together because they come from the same creative consciousness. The arrangement echoes his signature style: intimate, guitar-forward, strings entering only in the chorus. His voice, which tends toward tender emotionality, sustains that register throughout.

Kaushal Kishore plays on grammatical contradiction: 'dil tod gaya tu, par dil se na gaya' — 'you broke my heart, but haven't left my heart.' Departure without leaving, breaking without ending — the poem's entire argument compressed into a single impossible statement.

Vishal Mishra mentioned in interviews that recording the Haq album and simultaneously singing for Tanishk Bagchi in Sky Force in the same period was creatively dense. The dual-version release strategy (solo + duet) was pre-planned by Mishra and Suparn Verma to maximize emotional reach.

The dual-version structure extended streaming life and gave male and female audiences distinct entry points into the same emotion.
