One of Khursheed's five songs in Prabhu Ka Ghar (1945), credited to Khemchand Prakash with words by Pandit Indra. The title is a straightforward petition — asking God for the gift of life — which in the Hindi film vocabulary of the period almost always accompanies a scene of illness, danger or impending death. No recording circulates and no account of the film's story survives, so the situation cannot be confirmed.

A prayer song of this kind in the mid-1940s was normally written slow and low in the register, with the invocation repeated as its own refrain — the doubling of 'Bhagwan Bhagwan' in the title is itself the structural signature of the form, since repetition of the name is both a prosodic device and a devotional act. The Hindi Film Geet Kosh assigns the tune to Khemchand Prakash, but no recording survives against which to describe the arrangement.

'Jeevan daan' — the gift of life — is a specific formulation: not a request for blessing or prosperity but for a life to be given back, the words used when someone is dying or in danger. Doubling the invocation before the request is the standard shape of the film bhajan of petition, where the name is called first and the asking comes second. Against the other four devotional songs on this soundtrack, which are Braj Krishna songs of celebration or the Gita's statement of doctrine, this one is the soundtrack's moment of need — the film's title claim tested from inside a crisis rather than asserted.

Prabhu Ka Ghar was a 1945 Ranjit Movietone social-religious drama directed by Wajahat Mirza, with Khursheed as the singing lead. Its eleven-song score divides fairly cleanly between devotional numbers and domestic ones, and this is the devotional song placed in Khursheed's own voice as the heroine rather than in Manna Dey's. Since no print of the film and no plot summary survive, the scene it accompanied is unknown and is not reconstructed here.

The song has not been reissued or discussed anywhere traceable and no audio circulates; it exists as a catalogue entry and in Saregama's listing for the album. It belongs to the large body of Khursheed's Indian recordings that went out of circulation after she moved to Pakistan in 1948, and it is one of the film's songs whose only surviving trace is a line in a song index.
