पायल देव

Payal Dev is a playback singer and music composer who has become one of the busiest double-threat talents in contemporary Hindi film music. Born on 26 February 1989 in Ramgarh Cantonment (in present-day Jharkhand), she studied music before moving to Mumbai with her husband, music producer Aditya Dev, to pursue playback singing. Her breakthrough came with "Ab Tohe Jane Na Doongi" in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani (2015), which earned her the Mirchi Music Award for Upcoming Female Vocalist. She followed it with songs like "Bhare Bazaar" from Namaste England (2018), and reached a mass audience with the Badshah collaboration "Genda Phool" (2020) and the monsoon ballad "Baarish Ban Jaana" (2021), both of which crossed hundreds of millions of views on YouTube. As a composer she debuted with "Dil Jaaniye" in Khandaani Shafakhana (2019), and her tune "Tum Hi Aana" from Marjaavaan (2019) became one of that year's most-heard romantic tracks, establishing her as a rare mainstream female music director in Bollywood. In 2020 she and Aditya Dev launched Apni Dhun, an independent music platform, and she has recorded across Hindi, Bengali, Punjabi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and other languages. She remains prolific in the 2020s, composing and singing for major releases including Baaghi 4 (2025).
