The Monographपरिचय Overview

The second of the two Leela Sawant–V. G. Bhatkar duets in Kaliyan (1944) that gave Bhatkar — later the composer-singer Snehal Bhatkar — an early playback opportunity under G. A. Chishti. Its imagery invokes the saanvare (the dark one, Krishna) and his flute, threading a devotional colour through a romantic duet.
The Music

Chishti's signature for Kaliyan — soft flute interludes — is almost literal here, with the bansuri both named in the lyric and woven through the arrangement. The composer keeps the tempo gentle and devotional, letting the two voices answer one another in the melodic pre-Partition film idiom.
