Khairiyat Se (ख़ैरियत से) is the reflective, low-key duet from Faraaz (2023), Hansal Mehta's dramatization of the 2016 Holey Artisan Bakery terror attack in Dhaka. Composed and co-written by Sameer Rahat with fellow lyricist Alok Ranjan Srivastava, and voiced principally by Khalid Ahamed alongside the composer-lyricist duo, the track was released on 27 January 2023 through T-Series, roughly a week before the film's 3 February 2023 India theatrical release (the film had earlier premiered at the BFI London Film Festival in October 2022). Where Faraaz's narrative is built around real-time hostage tension inside a Dhaka café, Khairiyat Se steps outside that pressure entirely — a soft, largely unadorned ballad asking simply whether someone far away is safe and well. The soundtrack is deliberately minimal, comprising only two songs (Khairiyat Se and Musafir Ko), both understated compared to the loud, dance-driven soundtracks that dominated Hindi film music in 2023, in keeping with the film's restrained, non-sensationalized treatment of its subject.

Sameer Rahat, who both produced and composed the track, keeps the arrangement deliberately sparse — a slow-tempo, largely acoustic bed that leaves room for the vocals to carry the song's emotional weight rather than the production. Khalid Ahamed's lead vocal is unhurried and restrained, matching the ballad's low-energy register, while Rahat and co-writer Alok Ranjan Srivastava are also credited as singers on the official release, layering additional vocal texture into the mix. The result sits closer to an indie-film ballad than a conventional big-studio soundtrack number, in keeping with Faraaz's low-key, docudrama tone.

The lyric works through the register of a distant, almost letter-like address — asking after someone's khairiyat (wellbeing) as if writing across an unbridgeable gap, on 'doosri zameen pe' (a different world/land altogether). The Hindi-Urdu diction, with words like fasaana (tale) sitting alongside the everyday phrase khairiyat se, gives the song a gentle, conversational intimacy rather than dramatic flourish — fitting for a track that exists at a remove from the film's central hostage-crisis tension rather than narrating it directly.

Faraaz, directed by Hansal Mehta and produced under Zee Studios and Benaras Mediaworks (Anubhav Sinha), dramatizes the July 2016 terrorist siege at the Holey Artisan Bakery in Dhaka, Bangladesh, centering on the young manager Faraaz Ayaz Hossain (played by Zahan Kapoor) who chose to stay behind with friends rather than escape when militants took hostages. The film, also starring Aditya Rawal, premiered at the BFI London Film Festival in October 2022 before its India theatrical release on 3 February 2023, and drew praise for handling a sensitive real-event tragedy without exploitative sensationalism. Khairiyat Se and its companion track Musafir Ko, both released as a two-song promotional package on 27 January 2023, were kept deliberately understated to match that tone — background emotional texture rather than a marketing-driven chartbuster push.

Khairiyat Se did not chase chart or streaming records the way many 2023 soundtrack singles did — its official T-Series audio and lyric uploads sit in the tens of thousands of views rather than millions, reflecting Faraaz's identity as a critically respected, awards-conversation drama rather than a mass commercial release. Its lasting value on HindiGeet is as part of a small, carefully restrained soundtrack attached to one of 2023's more serious real-events Hindi films, standing in deliberate contrast to the year's louder chart-topping item numbers and dance tracks.
