One of the more literary projects of the early 1940s — W. Z. Ahmed's Shalimar Pictures in Pune was unusual for employing poets of the Progressive Writers' Association, and Man Ki Jeet bears their stamp: Josh Malihabadi and Bharat Vyas wrote the lyrics, S. K. Pal set them, and the film is remembered as the screen debut of playback singer Sitara Kanpuri.
