Synopsis1944 की एक सामाजिक मेलोड्रामा, निर्देशक एम. सादिक़ की — उस दौर में बनी जब नौशाद अपने कैरियर के आरंभिक, तेज़ी से उभरते चरण में थे और उस सिम्फ़नी-युक्त परंतु ज़मीनी शैली को गढ़ रहे थे जो जल्द ही उन्हें हिंदी सिनेमा का सबसे प्रभावशाली संगीतकार बनाने वाली थी। फ़िल्म में महताब मुख्य भूमिका में थीं, और गीत-पंक्ति ज़ोहराबाई अंबालेवाली, निर्मला देवी और हमीदा बानो की स्टूडियो आवाज़ों ने संभाली।

A 1944 social melodrama directed by M. Sadiq, made when Naushad — still in the early, fast-rising phase of his career — was building the symphonic-yet-rooted style that would soon make him the most influential composer in Hindi cinema. The film starred Mehtab, with a song-line carried by the studio voices of Zohrabai Ambalewali, Nirmala Devi and Hamida Banu.
