Vivek Hariharan is a Mumbai-based playback singer and composer whose voice carries an unusual mix of inheritances — a father from Chennai, a Bengali mother, and family roots on the Tamil Nadu–Kerala border. Trained in Bharatanatyam from the age of seven, he first built a conventional career in management consulting before taking a leap of faith in 2014 to pursue music full time, cutting his teeth on advertising jingles. His film break came with 'Dum Dum' in Phillauri (2017), and he entered wider public consciousness singing 'Challa' in Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019). He went on to lend his voice to 'Current Laga Re' in Cirkus (2022), 'Ghere' in An Action Hero (2022), and 'Pipni' for the series Mismatched. In 2025 he stepped forward as a composer with 'Roohdaari' for Sonu Sood's Fateh — a romantic ballad blending pop, Indian classical and qawwali colours, sung by Jubin Nautiyal with Hariharan himself. The very first song he composed, it reached Sood through friends and was on the film's shooting floor within four days. For the same film he created 'Nindiya', an operatic, orchestral hip-hop piece he travelled to Belgium to record inside a chapel for its acoustics. His 2025 work also includes 'Kaccha Kaccha Aam' from Bhagwat Chapter One – Raakshas, which he both composed and sang.
