The Monographजीवनी Biography

Anurag Saikia (born December 1988) is an Indian film score composer, music director, music producer, and instrumentalist from Moran, Assam. Raised in a household steeped in music — his mother Dipali Saikia is an All India Radio artist and teacher, and his father Dr. Anil Saikia is an academician recognised for his contributions to Assamese folk culture — he grew up exposed to both Western classical music and traditional Assamese Borgeet. He graduated from Cotton College before training at the Swarnabhumi Academy of Music (SAM) in Chennai.
After moving from Guwahati to Mumbai in 2011, Saikia built a career scoring background music and songs for Hindi films and web series, working with directors including Anubhav Sinha and Akarsh Khurana and production house The Viral Fever (TVF). He is known for his work on films such as Mulk (2018), Article 15 (2019), Thappad (2020), and Karwaan, and for composing music for TVF's OTT series Panchayat. He is one of the youngest composers to receive the Rajat Kamal (National Film Award) for Best Non-Feature Film Music Direction, for Yugadrashta.
His compositional style blends Assamese folk traditions, including Borgeet, with Indian classical elements and Western orchestration. In 2025, he won Best Title Track at the IIFA Digital Awards for "Ishq Hai," from the third season of the Khurana-directed series Mismatched.
