The Monographपरिचय Overview

Ghere (घेरे) is a moody, electronica-leaning track from An Action Hero (2022), Anirudh Iyer's directorial debut starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Jaideep Ahlawat. Composed, produced and arranged by Parag Chhabra — who scored much of the film's original songs and background music alongside contributions from Tanishk Bagchi, Biddu and Amar Jalal — Ghere is sung by Vivek Hariharan and Chhabra himself, with lyrics by Vayu. Released on 29 November 2022 by T-Series as part of the An Action Hero soundtrack, days ahead of the film's 2 December theatrical release, the song leans into a tense, atmosphere-first sound rather than a conventional hook-driven number, fitting the film's genre-bending mix of action-thriller plotting with a satirical look at Bollywood stardom. It sits alongside the film's more high-energy theme song 'Asli Action Chaalu' as one of two Parag Chhabra vocal collaborations on the soundtrack, giving the composer an unusually direct hand in the album's sound beyond the production chair.
The Music

Parag Chhabra builds Ghere around a pulsing, electronic-leaning production rather than a conventional filmi melody, layering Vivek Hariharan's vocal with his own to create a two-voice texture that trades intensity rather than harmony. The arrangement favours atmosphere over hookiness — rhythmic, percussive, and moody — reflecting Chhabra's broader role on the An Action Hero soundtrack, where he composed both several original songs and the film's background score, giving the album a consistent sonic identity distinct from the era's more conventional item-number-heavy soundtracks.
The Poetry

Vayu's lyrics lean on imagery of an encircling, ringing sensation — 'colours resonating in the air' and something 'throbbing in the mind' — building a mood of disorientation and pressure closing in, rather than telling a linear story. The title word 'ghere' (circles/encirclements) works as the song's organizing metaphor, evoking a sense of being surrounded — fitting for a film built around a chase narrative between an action star on the run and the man hunting him.
The Story

An Action Hero follows Maanav Kaushik (Ayushmann Khurrana), an ego-driven Bollywood action star who accidentally kills the brother of ruthless politician Bhoora Solanki (Jaideep Ahlawat) and goes on the run to London, with Bhoora in relentless pursuit — a premise the film uses to satirize celebrity culture as much as deliver genre action-thriller beats. Directed by newcomer Anirudh Iyer and produced by T-Series and Colour Yellow Productions, the film released theatrically on 2 December 2022 to largely positive reviews for its writing and Ahlawat's performance, even as it underperformed commercially at the box office. Ghere plays into the film's tense, on-the-run atmosphere, part of a soundtrack that mixes composer contributions from Chhabra, Tanishk Bagchi, Biddu, and Amar Jalal.
The Legacy

Ghere did not chart or generate the kind of viral attention that An Action Hero's rap-driven theme song 'Asli Action Chaalu' received, remaining a comparatively lower-profile album cut; its main point of interest for soundtrack followers is composer Parag Chhabra's dual role as both producer and credited vocalist across two of the film's tracks, an unusually hands-on credit split for a Bollywood composer of a mainstream studio release.
