When asked, he reportedly said: 'My music should not have Lata's voice.' The reason was never fully clarified. The lightheartedness that existed in Mr. & Mrs. '55 was perhaps diminishing in life. In later years Geeta Dutt sang less, received fewer opportunities. She died in 1972 at 41.
