The Monographपरिचय Overview

Zohrajabeen (ज़ोहराजबीन) is the title track of B Praak's debut solo album of the same name, released on 15 September 2023 by DM - Desi Melodies in collaboration with Universal Music India. Written by his long-time collaborator Jaani and directed by Arvindr Khaira, the music video marked actor Randeep Hooda's debut in a music video, opposite Bigg Boss 16 contestant Priyanka Chahar Choudhary, with Bhavaya Chawla in a supporting role. Though credited by both artists as a predominantly Punjabi-Hindi crossover single from a Punjabi singer-composer duo, the song's lyrics lean heavily into Hindi-Urdu vocabulary and it charted prominently on JioSaavn's Hindi/crossover listings through late 2023. B Praak sang, composed and produced the track himself, continuing his run of intense, melodically dramatic sad songs that built his reputation after 'Filhaal.' The official video became a massive success, crossing over 200 million YouTube views within its first two years.
The Music

B Praak sings, composes and produces Zohrajabeen himself, building the track around his signature intense, emotionally raw vocal delivery — a heavier, slower-building arrangement than his more radio-friendly hits, designed to sit at the emotional peak of a sad-romantic album. The production leans on a minimal, dramatic instrumental bed that gives room for his voice to carry the song's anguish, in keeping with the singer-composer's established style since his breakout with 'Filhaal.'
The Poetry

Jaani's lyric uses the striking image of blood drawn by memories and words ('khoon teri yaadon ke, khoon teri baaton ke') to convey how deeply the beloved's absence has wounded the singer, before pivoting to the song's central, defiant refrain — that he remains her 'aashiq' (lover) regardless of what has passed between them. The title itself, 'Zohrajabeen,' is an old, poetic term for a beautiful woman, giving the whole song the register of a classical ghazal-style address even within its contemporary pop-ballad structure.
The Story

The Zohrajabeen music video marked Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda's first-ever appearance in a music video, opposite reality-TV star Priyanka Chahar Choudhary (a Bigg Boss 16 contestant), with Bhavaya Chawla in support. Directed by frequent B Praak-Jaani collaborator Arvindr Khaira, the video tells a story of unrequited or lost love that Choudhary described as 'a tale of unrequited love,' while Hooda spoke about the project reflecting how 'life happens to you when you are planning something else.' The song serves as the title track of B Praak's debut solo studio album, released across DM - Desi Melodies platforms in September 2023.
The Legacy
