The Monographपरिचय Overview

"Yaadein Dhundhli Hain" is the emotional centrepiece of the soundtrack for Daldal (Season 1), the 2026 Amazon Prime Video psychological crime thriller starring Bhumi Pednekar. Composed and performed by Shubhajit Mukherjee alongside Trina Mukherjee, with Sonu Nigam's distinctive voice lending gravity to the lead melody, the song runs 3:26 and is distributed by Sony Music India. The title — 'memories are blurry' — encapsulates the psychological haze that surrounds DCP Rita Ferreira's investigation.
The Music

Shubhajit Mukherjee's composition for Yaadein Dhundhli Hain is spare and atmospheric, designed to underscore the series' psychological interiority rather than dominate it. Sonu Nigam's measured delivery draws on his immense experience with sad ballads, while Mukherjee's own voice provides intimate counterpoint alongside Trina Mukherjee. The arrangement likely favours minimal instrumentation — piano, perhaps sparse strings — to keep the focus on the lyrical and vocal sadness.
The Poetry

The title Yaadein Dhundhli Hain is itself a complete poetic statement: memories aren't lost but blurry — still present, still painful, yet impossible to fully grasp. This mirrors the investigation's central challenge — solving crimes rooted in trauma that no one can perfectly recall.
The Story

Daldal marked a significant OTT debut for Bhumi Pednekar in a crime thriller lead. Suresh Triveni, known for nuanced characterisation (Tumhari Sulu, Jalsa), chose Shubhajit Mukherjee — a Bengali composer with a strong track record in subtle, emotionally layered music — to create the score. The choice of Sonu Nigam for the lead vocal brings generational weight to a contemporary OTT production.
The Legacy
