Vande Mataram (वंदे मातरम्) is the patriotic anthem from the Hindi version of Operation Valentine (2024) — an aerial-action drama loosely based on the 2019 Pulwama attack and the retaliatory Balakot air strikes by the Indian Air Force. Composed by Telugu music director Mickey J. Meyer, written by Kumaar, and sung by Sukhwinder Singh, the track welds the invocation of Bankim Chandra Chatterjee's 'Vande Mataram' to a modern film-anthem arrangement of keyboards, strings and marching percussion. Saregama unveiled it at the Wagah Border in Amritsar on 17 January 2024 — billed as the first Hindi film to launch a song at the iconic border — ahead of the film's 1 March 2024 bilingual (Telugu-Hindi) theatrical release. The film, starring Varun Tej (his Hindi debut) and Manushi Chhillar (her Telugu debut), was a critical and commercial failure that all but disappeared from theatres, leaving the song as one of the few pieces of its promotional push to reach a wide audience.

Mickey J. Meyer — a Telugu-cinema composer stepping into a bilingual patriotic register — builds Vande Mataram as a rising film anthem rather than a folk march: his own keyboards lay the harmonic bed, Venkatesh Patvari's percussion and rhythms drive the marching pulse, a bass guitar (Stephan) anchors the low end, and a strings section (Sarah Springler) supplies the swelling, cinematic lift. The chorus — Ramya Behara, Kunal Kundu, Meyer himself and Krishna Tejasvi — answers Sukhwinder Singh's lead, and the whole was mixed by Mick. The arrangement is engineered to peak on the shouted 'Vande Mataram' refrain, using the traditional invocation as the emotional summit above Kumaar's newly written verses.

Kumaar frames the song as a soldier's oath. The verses open on visceral battle imagery — blood carrying embers ('khoon mein angaar'), a warrior tearing through storms, one who will defeat even death and refuse to accept defeat 'today' — before resolving into the collective invocation of the motherland. The lyric's craft is in its bridge: it uses the century-and-a-half-old 'Vande Mataram' refrain as a fixed emotional anchor, letting the newly written Hindi verses supply the specific, present-tense fervour of an Air Force pilot while the mantra supplies the timeless nationalist weight. It is functional cinema poetry — direct, declamatory, built to be sung over aerial-combat visuals.

Operation Valentine (2024) is a bilingual (Telugu and Hindi) aerial-action war drama directed by Shakti Pratap Singh Hada in his feature debut, produced by Sony Pictures International Productions and Renaissance Pictures, and starring Varun Tej as an Indian Air Force fighter pilot alongside Manushi Chhillar. The film is loosely based on the February 2019 Pulwama attack and the retaliatory Balakot air strikes carried out by the IAF. Vande Mataram was conceived as the film's flagship patriotic anthem: Saregama, which acquired the audio rights, launched it at the Wagah Border ceremony in Amritsar on 17 January 2024 — promoted as the first Hindi film ever to unveil a song at the border — several weeks ahead of the film's 1 March 2024 theatrical release, which had itself been pushed back from an earlier December 2023 / February 2024 window.

Vande Mataram outlived the film it was made to sell. Operation Valentine opened to weak reviews and a poor box-office run in both its Telugu and Hindi versions and quickly faded from theatres, but the song — carried by Sukhwinder Singh's name and the Wagah Border spectacle — became the release's most-seen artifact, its official Saregama lyrical video crossing two million-plus YouTube views. It sits in the 2024 wave of Balakot- and IAF-themed Hindi patriotic songs (alongside tracks from Fighter and other military dramas), and stands as a case study in a now-common promotional playbook: stage a nationalist anthem at a charged real-world location, hope the song travels further than the film. Here the song did; the film did not.
