'Is Dil Ki Halat Kya Kahiye' is a documented song of the 1944 Lahore film Bhai, sung by Naseem Akhtar to a Ghulam Haider composition and a Shatir Ghaznavi lyric. Period writing notes it as a solo rendered in an almost qawwali style — a heart's-condition lament given the rhythmic, devotional-passionate inflection of the qawwali form. It survives on gramophone record and is listed in the film's discographies.

Ghulam Haider colours the lament with qawwali inflection — a clapping-handclap pulse implied in the tabla-and-dholak rhythm, harmonium answering the vocal phrases in the call-and-response manner of the form, and Naseem Akhtar's line allowed to rise with controlled passion. The writing borrows the qawwali's devotional intensity for a secular song of the heart, a favourite hybrid of the 1940s.
