इबादत

Ibadat — meaning 'Worship' or 'Devotion' in Urdu-Persian — is the most explicitly spiritual song on the Songs of Paradise (2025) soundtrack and the only principal duet between Masrat Un Nissa and Munir Ahmad Mir. In the Kashmiri classical tradition as in Sufi poetry, worship of the divine and worship of the beloved are the same act. Sopori's arrangement for Ibadat creates the album's fullest sonic space, two voices interweaving in a dialogue that mirrors the song's spiritual content.

Ibadat has the album's richest arrangement — the two voices in dialogue create a call-and-response pattern rooted in Sufi musical tradition. Sopori's santoor provides the melodic thread binding the two voices while percussion sustains a consistent devotional pulse.

Ibadat belongs to the Kashmiri classical tradition — a body of song that Raj Begum embodied at Radio Kashmir. Abhay Rustum Sopori's recomposition preserves the modal character of the original while allowing contemporary recording sensibility.
