IMDB news described the song as 'a reminder of what love costs in this world.' Released on 28 July 2025, it became the most discussed song from the album among critics and social commentators.

Shreyas Puranik builds 'Duniya Alag' with extraordinary economy — a minimal piano arrangement, a cello that enters only when the lyric reaches its most exposed moments, and almost no percussion. The sparse production creates space for Arijit Singh's voice to carry the song's full emotional load. Singh, who rarely oversings, applies his signature technique of controlled vulnerability — the voice appears to tremble at the edges without ever breaking, which is exactly how unexpressed grief sounds.

Siddharth-Garima's lyric avoids political sloganeering in favor of the personal — the singular experience of a boy who loves a girl but exists in a world that refuses to see him as equal. The title phrase 'duniya alag' (the world is different/separate) becomes a diagnosis more than a complaint.

Composer Shreyas Puranik was brought onto the Dhadak 2 project specifically for this track — the creative team felt that the song about caste alienation needed a distinctly different compositional voice from the romantic tracks. Puranik, known for restrained, atmospheric compositions, was the natural choice.
