'Ban Than Ke Naveli Jal Bharne Jaungi' is one of the ten documented songs of Sheikh Chilli (1942), Kikubhai Desai's Paramount Film Company comedy-fantasy. The title draws on the perennial panghat (village-well) imagery of Hindi film and folk song — a young woman dressing up to fetch water — and the song_type is inferred as a female solo on that basis. The lyric is Desai's, with music by Khan Mastana and Damodar Sharma; no singer is recorded.

The surviving record, however, documents only the title and credits, not the raga or instrumentation.
