Waheed Qureshi was a lyricist active in Hindi cinema through the 1940s and into the mid-1950s, credited with writing lyrics for over 150 songs across numerous films of the period. He is a distinct figure from the Pakistani Urdu scholar and linguist of the same name (1925-2009), with whom he is sometimes confused in search records.
His filmography includes songs for Saheli (1942) and Rai Sahab (1943), both directed by S. M. Yusuf, as well as Nek Parvin (1946), Pati Seva (1947), Rangeen Kahani (1947), Grihasthi (1948), Meri Kahani (1948, directed by Keki Mistry), Gumashta (1951), Aabshar (1953), and Pyase Nain (1954). His songs were recorded by leading playback singers of the era, including Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, and Shamshad Begum, with music composed by figures such as S. K. Pal, Datta Korgaonkar, and Firoz Nizami.
Qureshi's body of work places him among the working lyricists of Hindi cinema's transitional period from the 1940s into the early 1950s, though detailed personal biographical records, including his birth and death dates, have not survived in accessible archives.
