रोहित शर्मा नई दिल्ली में जन्मे फ़िल्म संगीतकार और गायक हैं, जिनका संगीत मुख्यधारा के शोर-शराबे के बजाय बनावट, लोक-रंग और संयम के लिए जाना जाता है। दिल्ली कॉलेज ऑफ़ इंजीनियरिंग से इंजीनियरिंग की पढ़ाई करने वाले रोहित ने पंडित हर्षवर्धन से हिंदुस्तानी शास्त्रीय बाँसुरी और दिल्ली स्कूल ऑफ़ म्यूज़िक से पश्चिमी शास्त्रीय पियानो सीखा, और सन् 2000 में पूर्णकालिक संगीत रचना के लिए मुंबई आ गए। उनके फ़िल्मी सफ़र ने आनंद गांधी की प्रशंसित शिप ऑफ़ थीसियस (2013) और बुद्धा इन अ ट्रैफ़िक जैम (2016) से आकार लिया, जिसके बाद अनारकली ऑफ़ आरा (2017) के ठेठ, भोजपुरी रंग वाले गीतों के लिए उन्हें जागरण फ़िल्म फ़ेस्टिवल में सर्वश्रेष्ठ संगीत निर्देशक का पुरस्कार मिला। विवेक अग्निहोत्री की फ़िल्मों से उनका गहरा जुड़ाव रहा — द ताशकंद फ़ाइल्स (2019), द कश्मीर फ़ाइल्स (2022) और द वैक्सीन वॉर (2023) का संगीत उन्होंने ही रचा — और वेब सीरीज़ एस्पिरेंट्स के संगीत के लिए उन्हें IWM डिजिटल अवॉर्ड मिला, जिसमें उन्होंने 'मोहभंग' गीत गाया भी। 2025 में उन्होंने किशोरावस्था पर आधारित फ़िल्म घिच पिच का साउंडट्रैक रचा — जिसमें 'यारियाँ', 'काला' और 'मुंडा पटेया गया' शामिल हैं, अंतिम गीत उन्होंने स्वयं गाया — साथ ही द बंगाल फ़ाइल्स का पार्श्व-संगीत भी तैयार किया। उन्हें इसी नाम के क्रिकेटर से भ्रमित नहीं होना चाहिए।

Rohit Sharma is a New Delhi-born film composer and singer known for scores that favour texture, folk colour and restraint over mainstream bombast. An engineering graduate of Delhi College of Engineering, he trained in Hindustani classical flute under Pandit Harshwardhan and studied Western classical piano at the Delhi School of Music before moving to Mumbai in 2000 to compose full-time. His film work took shape with Anand Gandhi's acclaimed Ship of Theseus (2013) and Buddha in a Traffic Jam (2016), followed by the earthy, Bhojpuri-flavoured songs of Anaarkali of Aarah (2017), which won him Best Music Director at the Jagran Film Festival. He became closely associated with Vivek Agnihotri's films, scoring The Tashkent Files (2019), The Kashmir Files (2022) and The Vaccine War (2023), and won an IWM Digital Award for the music of the web series Aspirants, on which he also sang the track 'Mohbhang'. In 2025 he composed the soundtrack of the coming-of-age film Ghich Pich — including 'Yaariyan', 'Kaala' and 'Munda Patteya Gaya', the last of which he also sang — alongside background-score work on The Bengal Files. He is not to be confused with the cricketer of the same name.
