मोंटी शर्मा

Monty Sharma (born 17 April 1970 in Mumbai) is a Hindi-film music composer from one of Bollywood's most storied musical families: he is the nephew of Pyarelal Sharma of the composer duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal, cousin of composer Mithoon, and grandson of Pandit Ram Prasad Sharma, under whom he began learning music at age five. He started his professional career as a keyboard player at sixteen, working alongside Laxmikant-Pyarelal on the film Mr. India.

Sharma moved into composing background scores before making his debut as a full-fledged music director with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya (2007), for which he composed all twelve original soundtrack songs (lyrics by Sameer) and earned a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Music Director. He is also widely known for his atmospheric background scores, notably for Bhansali's Black (2005) and Ram-Leela (2013).

His other music-direction credits include Right Yaaa Wrong (2008), Fox (2008), Naughty @ 40 (2008), Chamku (2008), Heroes (2008), Vaada Raha (2009), Mirch (2010), and Run Bhola Run (2012), and he composed the background score for the 2023 blockbuster Gadar 2.
