As the title number of Chand (1944), this romantic duet frames the film's central theme through the conceit of addressing the moon. It is among the earliest recorded songs of Husnlal-Bhagatram, who were making their Hindi-film debut with this picture, and it pairs G. M. Durrani's light, agile tenor with the popular wartime-era voice of Zeenat Begum. The lyric is by Qamar Jalalabadi, here at the start of his long association with the duo.
