ख़ान मस्ताना साक़ी-विषय के लिए स्वाभाविक ग़ज़ल-झुकाव वाली शैली में काम करते हैं: धीमी-से-मध्यम धुन जिसमें लंबी ठहरी हुई पंक्तियाँ गायक को हर पंक्ति पर रुकने देती हैं, हारमोनियम और तबले के सहारे। संगीतकार और गायक दोनों के रूप में वे धुन को अपनी उद्घोषक गायन-शैली के अनुरूप ढालते हैं।
