'Piya Sajan Hai Jis Desh Base' is one of ten Anil Biswas songs for Vijay (1942), with lyrics by Safdar 'Aah'. The title — yearning for the land where the beloved lives — places it firmly in the viraha (separation) tradition that runs through the film's score.
The Music

Anil Biswas sets the longing of the lyric to a slow, drawn-out melodic line, the phrasing stretching to suggest distance and absence. Faithful to the rest of the soundtrack, the orchestration is sparse, letting the ache of the words lead.
