K. C. Dey composed the score in the lyrical Calcutta tradition he brought to Bombay, with all ten songs written by lyricist S. K. Kalla. His nephew Manna Dey — who had assisted him as music assistant — stepped before the microphone for the first time here, an apprenticeship turning into a vocation.

Tamanna is the film in which Manna Dey made his playback-singing debut.
