तुझे भी चाँद

Tujhe Bhi Chand (तुझे भी चाँद) is track five on Sukoon, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's debut non-film studio album, released via Saregama with the video premiering on 12 December 2022 (album out 30 November 2022). Written by the duo Siddharth–Garima and composed by Bhansali, the song is sung by Shreya Ghoshal, who lends her voice to two of the album's nine tracks (the other being Qaraar). Conceived during the pandemic halt in Gangubai Kathiawadi's production as Bhansali's personal ode to Lata Mangeshkar and the ghazal tradition of his childhood, Sukoon set out to make ghazal newly accessible, and Tujhe Bhi Chand — with its lush, multi-instrument arrangement featuring santoor, rabab, violin and flute alongside Ghoshal's classically-inflected vocal — became one of the album's most-streamed tracks, its official lyrical video crossing several million YouTube views.

Bhansali builds Tujhe Bhi Chand around a rich, layered semi-classical arrangement — santoor and rabab giving the piece a Kashmiri/Sufi-adjacent texture, with violin, flute, guitar and bass guitar (arranged by Raja Pandit, programmed by Sanjay Jaipurwale) filling out a fuller, more melodically ornate sound than the album's sparer ghazal tracks. Shreya Ghoshal's vocal moves between delicate, held notes on 'chaand' and more emotive swells on the questioning refrain, giving the song a shringara-tinged longing that sits comfortably between ghazal and classical film-adjacent balladry.

Siddharth–Garima's lyric turns the moon into a shared witness across distance — rather than describing separation directly, the singer asks a series of gentle questions about how the moon appears from the beloved's side ('does it look a little burnt from your home too?'), letting the celestial image carry an implicit ache of longing and unspoken parallel loneliness. It is a classic ghazal-adjacent device: displacing raw emotion onto nature so the feeling arrives obliquely rather than through direct statement.

Tujhe Bhi Chand belongs to Sukoon, Bhansali's standalone ghazal-forward album made outside any film, during the pandemic halt in Gangubai Kathiawadi's shoot. Alongside Shreya Ghoshal's two contributions (Qaraar and this track), the nine-song record features Armaan Malik, Pratibha Singh Baghel, Ustad Rashid Khan, Papon, Madhubanti Bagchi and Shail Hada, with detailed session-musician credits (santoor, tabla, rabab, violin, flute, guitar, bass) reflecting the scale of production Bhansali brought to what was framed as a passion project rather than a commercial soundtrack.

Tujhe Bhi Chand emerged as one of Sukoon's most popular individual tracks, with its official Saregama Music lyrical video crossing over 7 million YouTube views — a standout number for a ghazal-styled non-film song, well ahead of most of the album's other individual track uploads. It formed part of the wider critical conversation around Sukoon, where reviewers like Subhash K. Jha praised the album's ambition while others found some compositions emotionally uneven; the track's Shreya Ghoshal vocal and rich instrumentation were frequently singled out as a highlight in press coverage of the record.
