Palak Muchhal is an Indian playback singer from Indore whose career is inseparable from an extraordinary charitable mission: since 2000, her stage shows — billed 'Dil Se Dil Tak' and 'Save Little Hearts' — have funded heart surgeries for underprivileged children, with nearly three thousand lives saved by 2024. That work won her the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar in 2000, when she was still a child herself. Her Bollywood break came with 'Laapata' alongside KK in Ek Tha Tiger (2012), and she quickly became one of the defining romantic voices of the 2010s: 'Chaahun Main Ya Naa' (Aashiqui 2, 2013), 'Jumme Ki Raat' (Kick, 2014), the title song of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015) and 'Kaun Tujhe' from M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016), which earned her the Screen Award for Best Female Playback Singer. A frequent collaborator of composer duos and of Himesh Reshammiya and Mithoon — whom she married in November 2022 — she has recorded in seventeen languages, from Hindi and Bengali to Tamil and Malayalam. Her younger brother Palash Muchhal is a composer and director, and the siblings often perform together. She remains active in the 2020s with film songs, singles and recreations such as 'Rabba Ishq Na Hove 2.0'.
