One of the best-documented songs of Shirin Farhad (Madan Theatres, 1931) — Farhad's lament over a fate changed and a world lost, written by the legendary Parsi-theatre playwright Agha Hashar Kashmiri and composed by Brijlal Varma. Master Nissar sang it live on camera at Madan's Calcutta studio, in the ghazal-influenced style that made this film the first talkie blockbuster.
