Hori Mein (होरी में) is a traditional-form Holi song written for Gulmohar (2023), Rahul V. Chittella's family drama about the Batra family's final days at their ancestral Delhi bungalow. Composed by Siddhartha Khosla and Alan Demoss with lyrics by Shellee, it is sung solo by veteran Sufi and playback vocalist Kavita Seth — best known for Iktara (Wake Up Sid) and Ranjha (Raabta) — giving the track the warm, folk-classical restraint of the hori form, a classical genre of song traditionally sung during Holi celebrations, typically in Braj Bhasha or a Braj-inflected register. Released by Zee Music Company on 17 February 2023 as part of the promotional rollout for the Gulmohar (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) album, the song's official Zee Music Company video (in its short, roughly two-minute form) has drawn well over 3 million YouTube views — by far the most-watched of the film's four original songs — while a separate 'Full Video' version was released later with additional visuals. In the film, Hori Mein plays over a scene of the Batra family finally at ease with one another, its festive colour imagery underscoring a rare moment of unclouded happiness after the story's accumulated tensions.

Siddhartha Khosla and Alan Demoss build Hori Mein around the classical hori form's warm, communal-singing sensibility, giving Kavita Seth's seasoned, Sufi-trained voice room to anchor the song's traditional cadences on her own — the official release credits Seth as sole singer, with Khosla and Demoss named separately as composers. The pair's arrangement favours restrained, folk-adjacent instrumentation over a loud dhol-driven chorus, letting Seth's expressive delivery carry the celebratory mood.

Shellee's lyric draws on hori's traditional vocabulary of scattered petals, velvet-soft skin and a shower of blossoms — Persian-Urdu-inflected words like 'gunche' (buds) and 'makhmal' (velvet) sitting comfortably beside the Braj-rooted hori form itself, in keeping with a long convention of Hindi-Urdu Holi songs blending devotional and playfully romantic registers. Rather than a specific narrative, the song works through accumulated festive imagery — blooming, scattering, showering — that mirrors an emotional release after built-up tension, appropriate to where it lands in the film's story.

Hori Mein arrives at a comparatively lighter point in Gulmohar's story, playing over a scene in which the Batra family — matriarch Kusum (Sharmila Tagore), her son Arun (Manoj Bajpayee), daughter-in-law Indu (Simran), grandson Adi (Suraj Sharma) and Kusum's companion Sudhakar (Amol Palekar) — is shown having fun together after finally making peace with one another, a rare unclouded moment amid the film's accumulated family tensions over the sale of their ancestral home. Written by Arpita Mukherjee and Rahul V. Hori Mein is, by a wide margin, the most-watched of Gulmohar's original songs: its official short-form Zee Music Company video has drawn well over 3.4 million YouTube views, dwarfing the film's other three tracks, which each sit in the tens of thousands — a gap likely helped by the song's festive, shareable Holi-season appeal outside the context of the film itself. A separate 'Full Video' edit was released roughly three months after the original upload, extending the song's promotional life. It remains part of the soundtrack of Gulmohar, which won the National Film Award (Special Jury Award – Feature Film) in 2024.
