A slow, fatalistic ghazal-styled lament from Nanubhai Vakil's 1944 stunt film Kismatwala, sung by the period playback voice Kalyani. Set to the despairing imagery of seeking rest in death, it belongs to the melancholic register that the era's films reserved for moments of romantic defeat. It is the best-documented number from the film's nine-song programme.

The composition belongs to the Kismatwala soundtrack shared by music directors Shanti Kumar Desai and Master Ratanlal; which of the two scored this individual number is not separately documented. In keeping with the mid-1940s idiom for a sorrowful solo, it would have been built on a sparse harmonium-and-tabla bed with a measured, dirge-like tempo, leaving the melodic weight on Kalyani's unadorned vocal line.
