1944 की हिंदी फ़िल्म रामशास्त्री के सात गीतों में से एक — प्रभात फ़िल्म कंपनी की पेशवा-दरबार के न्यायाधीश राम शास्त्री प्रभुणे पर बनी ऐतिहासिक फ़िल्म। इसका शीर्षक बारह वर्ष के विरह के रामायण-भाव की याद दिलाता है, जो फ़िल्म के भक्ति और नैतिक ताने-बाने में बुना है। जी. दामले द्वारा रचित और क़मर जलालाबादी के बोलों वाला यह गीत समकालीनों के लोकप्रिय-हिट मुहावरे के बजाय फ़िल्म के संयमित, कथा-सेवी संगीत-स्वर का है।

One of the seven songs of the 1944 Hindi version of Ramshastri, Prabhat Film Company's historical drama on the Peshwa-court jurist Ram Shastri Prabhune. Its title evokes the Ramayana motif of a twelve-year absence, woven into the film's devotional and moral fabric. Composed by G. Damle to lyrics by Qamar Jalalabadi, the song belongs to the film's narrative-serving, restrained musical register rather than the popular-hit idiom of its contemporaries.
