The Monographपरिचय Overview

'Aao More Sawariya' is one of eight songs from Bahadur (1944), the action-adventure feature directed by Master Bhagwan for Jagriti Pictures. The lyric, written by Ehsan Rizvi, is built on the classic bhakti-romantic address to the sanwariya (the dark-complexioned beloved, an image borrowed from Krishna devotion). It belongs to the body of work through which composer C. Ramchandra — billed here under his early name Ram Chitalkar — was developing his craft during his formative wartime partnership with Bhagwan Dada.
The Music

The composition is by Ram Chitalkar (C. Ramchandra) in his apprenticeship period, before the rhythmic dance-songs that would make him famous on Albela (1951). The arrangement of a 1944 Bhagwan film of this kind relied on a small ensemble — harmonium, tabla and dholak carrying a melody-first, lightly classical tune suited to the romantic-devotional sanwariya address.
